About Us
"Building our Future, One Star at a time"
Philosophy
It is the philosophy of the Little Stars Child Care Center that children be encouraged to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences where all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment. We believe that each child is a unique individual and that all children can learn. Our childcare service provides an inclusive setting that recognizes children's varied abilities, interests, needs, and learning styles. We believe play is integral to children’s learning and essential to quality of life in childhood. Exploration and play are a child’s primary way of understanding the world. Children are agents of their own learning, actively building knowledge, skills, dispositions, and feelings. We are committed to fostering each child’s self-esteem, well-being, and growing need for independence. All aspects of their development and learning are interrelated and interdependent. The staff support each child’s disposition to learn while facilitating their learning and fostering competencies in all domains, including intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. Our goal is not only to care for your child with the utmost kindness and respect but to also prepare and foster an environment for each child that allows them to shine bright and think confidently about their future!
History
ï‚·According to the CCRR, Iowa has lost 40% of child care businesses since 2012. Blackhawk County has 21,324 children under the age of 12 and only 7,686 spots available at registered daycares; leaving approximately 13,000 children without the childcare services they need (WCF Courier/Community Foundation). This is the very problem the Little Stars Child Care Center has set out to solve in the Blackhawk County. The Little Stars Child Care Center is a derivative of the Islamic foundation of Iowa, a nonprofit 501C3 organization that is registered with the state of Iowa since 2005. The principal office of the organization in Iowa is in Waterloo. The primary mission of IFI is to serve the members of our community and surrounding areas as well as the entire state of Iowa by supplementing and complementing services that are provided locally and statewide in many areas especially the
educational area. with a community service project underway to address the need for child care. The Little Stars Child Care Center is a non-denominational Child Care Center on Ridgeway and Hwy 63. This project will provide spots for workers’ children in the surrounding area and beyond to have quality child care. This will be a great opportunity to support a project that will help bridge the
child care gap in your local area.
